Interviews with the wb!

My friends can always count on me to:

People would be amazed to discover that I am:

The best concert I ever went to was:

The one liner that best describes my life story so far is:
Life is a sandwich.

Right now my guiltiest pleasure is:
The chicken breast fillet sandwich at Wendy's with ketchup and pickles.

The smartest decision I ever made in life was to:
Take the path of least resistance.

I never leave home without:
My keys.

My most treasured possession is:
My picture album. I take it with me everywhere I go.
Gilmore Girl Alexis Bledel talks about her fourth season on The WB, life before Hollywood and on what getting paid to make-out with hot guys is really like...
On Rory's wild ways: "This season, Rory is getting loose! I can't explain it. It's true, we seem to be turning into Gilmore Girls and guys."

On her budding movie career: "I've got a couple of projects coming out soon. A movie called Sin City. My character is a little slutty. I play a prostitute. She's a very professional prostitute. She carries a gun and she kicks ass."

On hitting her stride in Hollywood: "I'm still a shy person. I've learned to put that aside on certain occasions. I have to. It's part of my job."

On going for the bad-boy: "I can understand why my character does it. It's so easy to do. For some unknown reason, bad-boys draw you in despite the fact that they are jerks."

On doing make-out scenes: "It"s a lot more difficult than people imagine. It's very choreographed. You have to tilt your head a certain way so the camera can see both of you. You have to stay in frame. It's just so sterile."

On her secret to succeeding as an actor: "A lot of girls ask for advice on how to get into acting, and I'm kind of the worst person to ask, because it just kind of fell in my lap ... I was just in the right place at the right time."

The Art of Being Alexis Bledel:
An Old Soul: "Sometimes I feel like I am an old person trapped in a young person's body. I'm boring. I go to movies. I read. That's about it."

Through the Looking Glass: "The success of the show is overwhelming. It's like being Alice at the Mad Hatter's tea party because you never know what's going to happen next."

School Rules!: "I was at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for a year and I loved it. There are a lot of really creative people, there is a constant exchange of an ideas. We talk about what's been done [in film] and all the rules for filmmaking and then we talk about how to break them."

The quality and/or trait I most admire in my closest friend is:
A sense of humor.

My friends can always count on me to:
Cook good butterscotch brownies.

The best concert I ever went to was:
The first concert I ever went to. That was Pat Benatar.

I never leave home without:
A book to read if things get boring.

If I could step into the shoes of any rock star for a day it would be:

I'm completely obsessed with:
Mad Cow Disease.

Out of all the characters on The WB I most identify with:
Alexis' character, Rory. Growing up I was always a bookish, kind of shy kid.

If we peeked in your fridge we would find:
You'd find Myoplex shakes and those little eye patches that you can freeze. I don't use them, but I leave them in my fridge. It makes me feel very Hollywood.

Art of being Lauren Graham:

Diva Drawbacks: "These days I have to be extra nice in stores. It never fails that whenever I look as bad as I can possibly look or I am sort of cranky because the store is out of something, that is precisely the time when someone one will recognize me and say: 'I really like your show.'"

I Dream Of Jean-ie: "My character has louder taste in clothes, I think. Personally, all I ever want to be wearing are jeans."

Dear Lorelai: "Nobody ever seems to want my advice about serious stuff. People will be like: 'Who made that sweater?' Or 'How did you get your hair so straight?' They don't to come to me for the relationship advice or deep stuff. In fact, my little sister actually hides from me."

In addition to my career, my greatest achievement so far has been:
Making the choice to reconnect with people in a real way, to work on relationships that had been broken or were not really clear. Having the guts to be honest with family members and people who I'd been keeping things from.

My definition of failure is:
When your gut told you to do something, and you didn't do it. That's what hurts. That's what makes you angry.

My most regrettable romantic blunder happened when I was:
Obsessed with my first boyfriend. I thought about him every day for a year after we broke up. I kept a notebook in which I wrote poems and all of these other things about him. Then I gave him the notebook. By this time he had totally moved on and was in a completely different space. I get embarrassed when I think he must have read all this stuff. I was so young.

The word or phrase I most overuse is:

My most treasured possession is:
A stuffed bear I got when I was 7.

My friends can always count on me to:
Support them, especially if they're performing or doing something creative.
The three words that best describe me are:
Energetic, moody and conscientious.

People would be surprised to discover that I am:
A homebody. I love to decorate. Shopping for my house is my weakness. I'm a big impulse shopper. Right now I am going through a Rasta phase. Everything in my house is very bold and colorful.

The trait I admire most in my character is:
Her resilience. She and I both have this kind of bounce-back ability. Lane has a tough life, but she always tries to have a positive attitude.

The thing I love most about acting is:
That moment when I lose my self-consciousness. It doesn't happen very often, but once in a while I get this kind of freedom that I never have in everyday life. There's something slightly addictive about that feeling.

Right now my guiltiest pleasure is:
What we call "seed." It's a really popular snack in Hawaii, which is where I am from originally. I just love the stuff. Basically seed is pickled fruits like mangos or cherries or plums.

The one thing I cannot imagine living without is:
Walking barefoot. And I am not talking about on concrete or carpet. I need to feel the dirt on my feet. I grew up barefoot, and here in the city, if too much time goes by without my having the time to walk on grass or dirt, I start to feel strange.

My definition of happiness:
Keeps changing. Today I'd say it was accomplishing goals I set for myself.

I am completely obsessed with:
Coffee, specifically café mochas. I have to have them every day.

Art of being Keiko Agena:

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: "Ever since I found out I got the part on Gilmore Girls, my life has been changing in so many ways. It seems as though all we get is good news. I'm just so grateful to be a part of it. It's a wholesome show with an edge. I have no idea how we pull it off."

No Doubt: "I am really fortunate to have parents who supported my plan to become an actress when I was a little kid. And then there was my Grandma. She was the best. She was always there and ready to drive me to all my plays and stuff."

Animal Planet: "Being on a successful show is kind of like being a sea turtle. Every year sea turtles lay hundreds and hundreds of eggs but only a few manage to survive and mature. It's the same with TV pilots. There are so many great ideas, but for whatever reason only the lucky ones get picked up. I know that sounds kind of cheesy, but that's how it feels to me."

Friendship 101: "I've learned a lot of things from Lane. For starters, she has this great friendship with Rory - this incredible female bond. Before the show I was a bit of a tomboy and most of my friends were guys. Now, however, I am still a tomboy, but I have started having some really great friendships with girls as well as guys."

Idol Worship: "The women I admire most in this business are Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler and Winona Ryder. Susan Sarandon because she's, well, Susan Sarandon. Winona because she's never compromised herself by showing her body in any of her love scenes, and Bette Midler because she has such a varied life. Her family, her marriage and her career are all priorities."
